Avicii LE7VELS Tour 3D Projection Mapping

Tim Bergling is a Grammy Award nominated 22 year old DJ and music producer from Sweden known to the world as Avicii. He was ranked 6th of 100 DJ’s by DJ magazine in 2011. His LE7ELS Tour has been rated as one of the most successful of its genre to date.

When Avicii’s management approached Alex Reardon to develop the LE7ELS Tour concept they challenged him with creating something that would be unlike anything out there. After several concepts Reardon settled on what he calls an “Organic Experience” – a giant human head! The 17.5 foot tall head with Avicii’s DJ booth on top has been turned into a sock-blowing projection surface – front, back and sides – by coating it with Screen Goo, thereby providing a great 3D Projection Mapping experience to viewers from all vantage points.

PRG Scenic was called in to bring all this into reality. PRG has done stages for anyone who is someone, from the Rolling Stones to Lady Gaga and is a Screen Goo customer with 40 offices worldwide.

The actual head was put together by Heavy Industries who worked with PRG throughout this project. The head was built in several pieces/sections and was designed to support and house the DJ and his equipment as well as it allowed for the entire top of the head to lift off and fly over the crowd like a gondola!

In the end it all fell into place, there have been many shows where the stage has had to be put together and stay in place and the show is touring as a great success!

If you think the photos above are cool you haven’t seen nothing yet! See photos of various Avicii LE7ELS concerts at Rukes.com, Photography of Drew Ressler, by pointing to the links below. Have fun!
