World of Color is a joint production and presentation of Pixar Animation and Disney Creative Entertainment under the direction of VP Parades & Spectaculars, Steve Davison. This spectacular show premiered for the public on June 11, 2010 as part of “Summer Nightastic”.
It took more than 15 months to construct, assemble, test and synchronize more than 1000 fountains of water that can shoot up to 200ft (61 meters) in the air. Besides water it also includes lights, fire, fog, lasers, with high definition projections on mist screens and 5 large domes coated with Screen Goo Rear Projection!
The show is still going strong at Disney’s Adventure Park and Resort located in Anaheim, California.
During their “quiet” part of the show and during the day the Screen Goo coated domes stay underwater until they are called to rise showing their high definition video part of the show. We are therefore somewhat certain that a bit of saltwater and for more than 700 days now and counting and 1000’s of shows so far Screen Goo Rear projection has withstood the rigors and demanding pace of this spectacular production!
There are virtually hundreds of YouTube videos around. The one below is pulled from Vimeo and it is about 30 minutes long. We highly recommend that you view this high quality video in it’s entirety as the World of Colors is truly an amazing show. The Screen Goo Rear Projection coated domes make appearances at the 6:02 – 8:35 – 11:02 and 24:08 minutes of the show.
