Visitors from all over the world marveled at the grandeur and beauty of the Thai Pavilion at the World Expo 2020 being held in Dubai, UAE. Many said that this has been the best Thai Pavilion at any world event over the past 150 years!
When INDEX CREATIVE VILLAGE in Thailand told us they were building their country’s pavilion at the World Expo 2020 in Dubai, including all the spatial multimedia storytelling in it, it was evident they were pulling out all stops to ensure that they would showcase their country’s brilliance, achievements and possibilities in a most exciting and vibrant way, utilizing the latest in visual and technological systems integration.
The main feature of the interior of this pavilion is a curved 270 square meter surface, 6.5m high on which a 4K video is projected and loops throughout the day. Enter Screen Goo 2.0 Max Contrast 0.7.
Screen Goo 2.0 Max Contrast 0.7 was spray painted after the surface was carefully prepared by skilled craftsmen who had never experienced screen paint before. Two contractors’ briefings were held via ZOOM to allay their concerns, answer their questions on drying and assure them they were on the right track. This YouTube video gives a sense of the space. From 4:12 – 17:25
As the audience make their way up a circular platform, they get more immersed into the video experience. Screen Goo Ultra Black was applied on 12 square meters of the top part of the surface to absorb any access light. As this was a closed windowless hall with 100% controlled lighting, it was in near darkness when the video is running. The stunning result can be seen in the full-length video here: https://virtualexpodubai.com/mobility-district/thailand.
Congratulations to the Index Creative Village team for pulling off such an awesome showing.
